Goodbye Greenville Part 1: Thank You!

Greenville, I will always love you. For many reasons, chief among them that you gave us our babies. We were oh so thankful to all the people who took such good care of us that we had to go and say goodbye to everyone (listed below in the order we met them).

Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group (PREG) - aka our IVF doctors, Dr. Payne and Dr. Nichols. We first met with Dr. Payne in October 2013. He looked at our test results from Atlanta and advised us to go ahead with IVF.  We worked with PREG for two IVF cycles. Dr. Payne did our egg retrieval and Dr. Nichols did our transfer. They worked together with their team to develop the prize-winning protocol for our second round of IVF. We love them both and all of their staff, some of whom are pictured below.

Lindsey is the one who calls with your test results.
I still have the voicemail with her sweet voice telling us we were pregnant.

Amber Addison - Acupuncturist extraordinaire at Creative Health in Downtown Greenville. Among other things, Amber specializes in fertility and helped support my body through our second round of IVF and throughout the pregnancy.  I've shared this before, but the day we did our transfer I saw her before and after. When I came back after the transfer and told her we transferred three eggs, she said something to the effect of, "Oh, I better be careful then." She knew they would stick even before we did. She was also a godsend during pregnancy because she was the only person (besides my nutritionist) who would take my symptoms seriously (as opposed to just telling me of course I was going to be miserable, I was pregnant with triplets). She also told me that all her pregnant women have big babies, and she was right about that too.

Kevin Lewis - Amazing Chiropractor at AlignLife in Greenville. Dr. Lewis is awesome. Throughout my pregnancy, he kept me in alignment, which gave the boys more room to grow and me relief for the weight of carrying three boys around. While he was treating me, he welcomed his fourth son (all under 6), so he would fill me on what was in store for us. I saw him 2-3 times a week while pregnant and still see him about once a week to recover from these babies and the nights of sleeping on the couch or in awkward positions.

Dr. Dubose at Piedmont OBGYN - When we found out we were pregnant, I was in the unique position of being pregnant and not having an OBGYN in town. We went straight to PREG when we moved so they were handing all my lady needs. Lindsey at PREG referred us to Piedmont OBGYN, an amazing practice. I loved (almost) all the doctors there. Dr. Dubose was amazing during the delivery (read our birth story here), so we had to let her meet the bigs boys before we left Greenville.

Kylie Kirby - Our angel of a night nurse. Kylie works weekends at Greenville Memorial, so she was our nurse on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (she was covering for someone that day). We were sad to see her go on Monday afternoon because she took such good care of us. Fortunately, mom mentioned to her that we might need some help to see if she knew anyone and she told us she had nursed twins before and would love to help us.  Our friends and family gifted us several nights with a night nurse (one of the greatest gifts anyone could ever give new parents), so Kylie was with us one or two nights a week from 10 to 6 for the first couple of months of the boys' life. Looking forward to those nights of sleep, knowing your boys were in good hands, was a priceless gift.

Carolina Pediatics - Dr. Nelson (right) at Carolina Pediatrics was on-call the weekend that the boys were born (thats one nice thing about being born on the weekend, you usually have consistent doctors and nurses). She helped monitor their temperatures, blood sugar, and jaundice levels. She also took good care of us during our RSV scare (although she was the one who ordered us to feed Alden EVERY hour, but we forgave her since we knew it was for the best). Her nurse, Martha (left), was the best. It isn't easy to take the weights, measurements, and temperatures of three babies while keep them happy, but Martha could do it every time. We really wish we could move them back to Birmingham with us.

We love you Greenville!
Check out part 2 of our goodbye (The One with all the Statues) here.
